The US government's new proposal to curb terrorism involves snooping around social media accounts of foreign travelers. The new proposal to ask visitors and non-citizens for their “social media identifier”could help border agents “investigate” your background without having to go to the NSA, Customs and Border Protection, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), believes having this “identifier” could help it find “possible nefarious activity and connections.”

Fuel Prices To Drop 3% – COPECGH

The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers Ghana (COPECGH) has predicted a three per cent reduction in fuel prices at the pumps for the first pricing window of the month of July, 2016.

A press release signed by the Executive Secretary of the chamber, Duncan Amoah, indicated that the reduction is due to expectations that world oil prices would fluctuate and subsequently fall and in the next few days.

Facebook to limit posts from Pages in News Feed

SAN FRANCISCO — Facebook’s next News Feed update could mean bad news for online publishers.

Facebook announced Wednesday it is limiting the amount of content from Pages, or the public profile created for brands, celebrities or media publishers a user follows. The News Feed will feature more posts from friends and family in way of posts from news companies.

Maintaining a relevant and interesting News Feed is important to satisfying users, said Adam Mosseri, vice president for product management at Facebook. Many users, especially those with many connections, told the service important posts from close friends often do not appear on their News Feed, which prompted the company to introduce this new upgrade.

Visa Fraudsters Arrested With 150 Fake Passports (Photos)

Police in Accra have arrested three persons for allegedly engaging in the production of counterfeit visas. The police retrieved 150 fake Ghanaian passports and other counterfeit documents from the hideout of the suspects at Adabraka in Accra.

Speaking at a press conference today [Monday], the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, ACP Timothy Yosa Bonga, confirmed that the police had “arrested three suspected visa fraudsters” who claimed to be “travel and tour consultants.”

Clash Alert @ Millennium City Site…National Security Asked To Intervene

Accra could soon witness a bloody clash between land guards and developers at Millennium City, at Kasoa near Accra, following alleged feet dragging by the Police Service to deal with the tension brewing in the area. Reports say land guard who have been terrorizing residents now have a field day creating fear among residents already settled there.

Some of the aggrieved residents suspect the District Police Commander has been compromised because several complaints have been shelved with no concrete action to flush them from the area.

Prime Minister of Cambodia Fined For Not Wearing A Helmet



Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has been fined by Koh Kong province’s police for not wearing a helmet during his motorbike ride last week and after he apologised to the public for his mistake.

According to a receipt for acts of violating the road traffic law issued by Sre Ambel district traffic policeman Sun Nem, dated June 18, he monitored a motorcycle rider named Hun Sen who violated article 6 of the traffic law and was fined 15,000 riel (130 baht), the Khmer Times reported on Thursday.

On Thursday, the boy entered the car parked near a house to retrieve his toy from the back seat, said Kese Smith, spokesperson of the Houston Police Department. He entered through the unlocked front door and climbed into the back seat.

Korle Bu closes down surgical emergency unit

The Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has suspended admissions at its surgical emergency unit. This was contained in a notice issued by the Medical Directorate and posted at the entrance of the unit two days ago.

Authorities at the unit explained that they had to put admissions on hold because the unit was full beyond its capacity.

Two Bulgarians who allegedly cloned ATM cards and succeeded in withdrawing money from the accounts of customers of some banks have been arrested by the police.

The suspects — Nikolay Petev Nedyalkov, 24, and Petar Petrov Yardanov, 33 — are suspected to have been living in Ghana for some years.

They are said to have withdrawn cash from the bank accounts of the victims with the cloned ATM cards using the ‘Gh-link platform’.
