Don’t blame WAGP/WAPCo for ‘dumsor

General Manager of West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP), Madam Harriet Wereko Brobbey, has stated that the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo), operator of the gas pipeline that transports gas from Nigeria to Ghana, has no hand in the country’s current power challenges.

She explained that her outfit is only responsible for the transportation of gas to the country and not to negotiate sales or purchasing agreement for the two countries.

2 Killed In Students Riot

Two persons are reported dead while dozens have been injured following a riot by students of the Salaga T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School in the Northern Region on Thursday morning to demand the removal of their headmaster.

The dead persons, who Daily Guide has confirmed are not students, were hit by stray bullets fired by a combined team of armed police and military personnel who tried to disperse the rampaging students.

Broadcast journalist and Deputy Editor of Razz entertainment newspaper, Osarfo Anthony, is in the custody of the Airport Police after attempting to extort Ȼ25,000 from Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan through blackmail.
Daily Guide has seen a copy of an undertaking signed by Osarfo Anthony, pledging to halt all negative publications on Asamoah Gyan, particularly his alleged sexual encounter with Sarah Kwablah, if the Ȼ25,000 was paid him.

Doctors’ strike: More regions set to join


The strike by doctors across the country is set to intensify even further today with more regions set to join.
The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has sent official memos to public hospitals across the country, urging their members to leave consulting rooms in accordance with nationwide strike that begun Thursday.On the first day of the strike, only doctors in the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions were reported to have left consulting rooms. Patients were turned away from the hospitals.
Medical doctors in other regions largely stayed at work as they waited for formal communication from their leaders.
But the situation is very likely to change Friday with the delivery of the officlal memos..

Uncompleted 3 Storey Building In Accra Collapses, 20 Rescued; 2 Dead


A major building under construction has collapsed at Cantonments, in Accra, Ghana.

The three storey building, which is located close to the Free Zones Board and the Africa Center of Excellence, was flattened at noon Saturday trapping over 20 workers.

Reasons for the structural failure are yet to be established but sources say that more than 16 laborers were working on the building when the incident occurred.

Man with weapon storms Mahama’s church


A 36-year-old man wielding a weapon stormed the Ringway Gospel Centre branch of the Assemblies of God Church which happens to be where President John Mahama worships.

He was arrested by the security upon his suspicious moves.

The National Security Secretariat is investigating the issue, a statement from the Communications Ministry said.

“The man was arrested after his fidgety and suspicious behaviour was noticed during the morning service. He was escorted out by security personnel and following a search, the weapon was found.

“President John Dramani Mahama and the First Family are members of the Church but were absent when the incident occurred,” the statement signed by Dr Edward Omane Boamah said.

Mahama on a seven-day leave


President John Mahama has taken a seven-day leave, a statement from the seat of government - Flagstaff House - said.

According to the statement, the president will, however, during the leave period honour some pre-scheduled bilateral engagements.

The President will resume work on August 03, 2015.

The last time the President took a break from work was in December 2013.
