A major building under construction has collapsed at Cantonments, in Accra, Ghana.
The three storey building, which is located close to the Free Zones Board and the Africa Center of Excellence, was flattened at noon Saturday trapping over 20 workers.
Reasons for the structural failure are yet to be established but sources say that more than 16 laborers were working on the building when the incident occurred.
Personnel from the Ghana Police, Ghana Fire Service and Ambulance Service are currently at the scene frantically trying to save persons trapped under the rubble.
Two persons have so far been confirmed dead. One of the deceased is believed to be the owner of the building.
Co-ordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Brigadier General Francis Vib Sanziri told the media that efforts were underway to retrieve the body of the second victim.
