Adam's Death, Is A Big Test For The NPP- Nana Akufo Addo

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Akufo-Addo has urged members of his party to remain strong and collected despite the loss of their Upper East Regional Chairman, Mahama Adams.

The latter died Thursday morning after he was attacked and ‘showered’ with acid by some assailants while he drove home from work Wednesday night.

In an official statement issued by the Communications Directorate of the party on behalf of,Nana Akufo Addo, he urged sympathizers of the party to show "responsibility and solidarity with each other".

Read below the full statement...

Late last night in Amsterdam, I learnt of the terrible attack on Adams Mahama, the Upper East regional chairman of the NPP. I had subsequently been briefed about the party’s arrangements to fly him to Accra for urgent treatment at Korle Bu Teaching hospital. Just a few minutes ago, l have learnt the very shocking news that he has passed on from his injuries.

My heart, thoughts and condolences, and that of the entire NPP family, go out to his family. The party will stand strongly with them in this time of our great loss. I am cutting short my stay in Europe to return home immediately to be with the party and his family.

I call on every party member and supporter to be calm at this time of great loss and stress. This is a big test for our great party. We should show responsibility and solidarity with each other. We should not take the law into our own hands, but support the police in their conduct of proper investigations into this tragedy, so that those responsible are brought to book in accordance with the law. We must stand together at this time, not against each other.

I also urge all of us, as a sign of respect to our dear departed chairman, to refrain from all political discussions for today as we take stock of our loss.

May the Almighty God give his soul perfect peace.

 ……signed……

Nana Akufo-Addo

2016 NPP Presidential Candidate
