Tips on how to Overcome Inferiority complex

Inferiority complex can be defined as a feeling that you are not as good, as intelligent, and as attractive, etc. as other people. It is often subconscious, and is thought to drive afflicted individuals to overcompensate, resulting either in spectacular achievement or extreme asocial behavior.

                                     Dealing with inferiority complex
First of all you must determine the root cause for your inferiority. This root cause may be as simple as a bad childhood experience such as rejection or being called names like dumb or stupid.

Determining the root cause for your inferiority is an essential step that can help you get over it quickly. Try to recall your childhood and remember the bad experiences you have been through. In many cases these bad experiences might be buried in the unconscious mind because of the pain associated with bringing them to the surface. This applies to the way a child is treated when growing up, using negative words on a child can lead to the child having inferiority complex in the future.

Tips on how to Overcome Inferiority complex

1.Parents and caregivers need to be very cautious when dealing with children at their early stages because at these points children are highly receptive to each comment they hear about their worthiness.

2.When a child makes a certain mistake like spilling juice over his clothes and then his mother tells him something like “Are you stupid?” that comment resides in his subconscious mind and starts to make him believe that there is something wrong about him.

3.Don't Use Negative words on a Child:If the child failed to do his homework then his teacher told him something like “You are stupid and lazy” then he might start to think that he is really stupid!

4.Adults should respect the child as much as they respect their peers. Make your child feel worthy by encouraging him and taking his opinion. Don't be overprotective because this will always prevent your child from developing the needed life skills and this will make him feel inferior to others.

5.Fix your mental self-image: In some cases when a person feels inferior his self-image becomes affected too. Your self-image is the image you have for yourself in your mind. Sometimes this image gets permanently modified as a result of the feelings of inferiority a person experienced. Fixing your mental self-image is one of the most powerful actions you can do to combat the inferiority complex. When the inferiority complex is based on a false belief (such as thinking that you are stupid/ugly) then fixing the mental self-image will certainly end the inferiority complex. Once you convince yourself that you were fooled and that you were carrying a false belief you will be able to get rid of your inferiority complex.

6.Remove the labels that you have acquired: Removing labels is another effective thing you can do to get rid of an inferiority complex. Labels are words that describe certain bad traits such fool, idiot, stupid or whatever .Getting rid of those labels can give you a strong push forward towards overcoming those feelings of inferiority.

7.Love thyself as this is the one thumb rule for a happy life. No one can make you feel inferior without your permission. It is very important to be in company of people who are very positive in nature. If you are surrounded by people who spend half of their time in analyzing others and judging them, probably you would get influenced too. Be with people who like others the way they are. Seek positive company. In a good company and with people who gladly accept you as you are, you would grow up to be more confident of yourselves. Finally, again, your confidence should not depend on others. It should exude from within.
