The Ghana Police Service has intensified its search for more suspects over the printing and sale of fake stickers allegedly from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).
The Public Relations Officer, ASP Cephas Arthur said the police will stop at nothing to bring the perpetrators to face the full force of the law.
The police arrested at least 32 people on Monday, June 6 following a tip-off over the production of fake roadworthy certificates.
The suspects who were arrested at the Tema and Accra offices of the DVLA are being screened by the police.
Speaking to Joy News, ASP Arthur said the stickers appeared well designed. He said “As per the preliminary investigations that we have conducted, you will see that the stickers that they are producing, that they are printing and selling to unsuspecting drivers are very true to type.”
“True to the one that the DVLA is selling,” he said adding “They seem to have laid hands on the genuine software of the DVLA sticker and so they are reproducing.”
He said the police administration is going to deal with the perpetrators in strong terms.
Without mincing words, ASP Arthur said the police is not ruling out possible collaboration between some officials of the Vehicle licensing authority and suspects.
“If there is somebody within the DVLA who has a hand in it, who is aiding so that he shall get some consideration out of it, we shall get at the person,” he said.
“We are looking for those people behind it. At least if there are people behind it, we shall get at them,” he added.
