Two killed in fatal Kibi accident; driver disappears

The Kibi divisional Police command has commenced investigations into an accident which caused the death of two persons over the weekend.

The Police have also mounted a search for the driver who disappeared shortly after the accident.

According to the Kibi Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent Peter Okyere, the incident happened bout 11:45pm on Saturday.



He explained that a Nissan Primera taxi cab with registration number GS 1982-09 driven by a yet-to-be identified driver from Akim Apapam to kibi upon reaching Afiasa community, failed to properly negotiate a curve due to excessive speed and skidded off the road hitting a tree in the process.

He said four persons onboard the taxi were severely injured and were rushed immediately to the Kibi government hospital for treatment.

Two of them Kofi Tawiah aged 28 and Kwame Offei, 34, died while Kofi Tabi, 30, and Desmond Begyabeng are responding to treatment.

The driver bolted after the accident and his whereabouts is presently not known, however, according to the commander, efforts are being made to arrest the driver.
