Liverpool and Sevilla fans clash in stands ahead of Europa League final

The build-up to the Europa League final has seen fans fighting each other inside the stadium at St. Jakob’s Park.

Multiple reports from the ground in Basel have confirmed that Liverpool supporters were fighting with their Sevilla counterparts.

Liverpool fans had been warned in the build-up to the final about the threat of buying fake tickets from touts, but many of the resold entries were actually Sevilla or corporate seats being flogged for a profit.

Of course, this brings with it the danger of fans clashing, and with reports of Liverpool fans in the Spanish club’s designated end of the ground, Manolo Lama of Spain’s Radio COPE said.

“There is fighting between Liverpool fans and Sevilla fans in the Sevilla stand.”

English journalists at the scene have reported skirmishes where the two sets of fans meet, with riot police forced to step in and act as segregation.
