ERICSSON-LG PUSHES 5G DOWNLOAD SPEED TO 26.3 GBIT/S

Ericsson-LG increased the speed again of its 5G technology.
Ericsson-LG, a joint venture of Ericsson and LG Electronics, showed off the state of its 5G technology in South Korea.

The company is now reaching a peak download speed of 26.3Gbit/s. In March the company demonstrated 25.3Gbit/s. Just within two month, the 5G downlink throughput increased by 1Gbit/s. In 2014 Ericsson demonstrated 5Gbit/s in a 5G test setup. Within 2 years the company has been able to increase 5G data transfer speed by more than a factor of 5.

Ericsson-LG was established in 2010. South Korea is an early adopter of mobile technology. It makes a lot of sense for Sweden's Ericsson to develop inside the the country with a strong consumer electronics partner such as LG.

5G is aimed to roll out in 2020 bringing new levels of data transfer rates and strong flexibility to support a wide range of devices including IoT.

Besides Ericsson all other telecom equipment makers such as Nokia and Huawei working on 5G technology. Carriers around the world are kicking off 5G testbeds. In the United States Verizon, AT&T and also T-Mobile announced 5G tests.
