59th MTN Asantehene Gold Cup hits Kumasi

The 59th MTN Asantehene Gold Cup Golf Championship will be played at the Royal Golf Club, Kumasi from Thursday 5th May to Sunday 8th May 2016.

This year’s edition will see both Professional and Amateur golfers play for attractive prizes and trophies.

This year’s edition will begin with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of the Asante Kingdom in whose honour the championship is being played Tee off on Friday after a Flag Raising Ceremony together with Ebenezer Twum Asante, MD of title sponsors MTN, chiefs and other patrons of the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi.


The Pros tournament which begins the whole championship will feature a lot of Pro Golfers from the whole country like Amos Cobblah, Kwadwo Bani and others competing for the GHc30.000 prize money at stake for the Pros championship, according to Francis Donkor- Baah, Captain of the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi.

The Amateurs Championship which will feature the likes of former Black Stars striker Tony Yeboah and other golfers both male and female will see competitors vying for various prizes including Flat screen TV sets and other trophies at stake.

This year’s event is going to witness a special dinner for the Golfers to be hosted by his Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at Manhyia on Friday night as the Championship coincides with the birthday of the King of the Asante Kingdom.
