A 48-year old self-styled worker of the Flag Staff House, who defrauded a Quantity Surveyor of GH¢91, 000, has been arrested by the Greater Accra Regional Criminal Investigation (CID) Department of the Ghana Police Service.
A source from the Regional CID told the media that Andy Bampoe Sekyi, the suspect, asked the complainant, Mr Domie Atsu Mawudeka, a Winneba-based surveyor, to offer him money under the pretext of securing him contracts from the Office of the President.
The source said the suspect told the complainant that he was a staff at the Flat Staff House and could, therefore, secure procurement documents on the Community Senior High School (SHS) projects through sole-sourcing for him, but he failed to do so.
The CID source said Sekyi used letter heads of the UniBank and the Fidelity Bank to defraud his victims, explaining that he used these banks as collateral securities to deceive consultants and contractors.
According to the source, Mr Mawudeka reported the matter to the Greater Accra CID Headquarters, when Sekyi failed to secure the contract for him.
He was, consequently, arrested in December at Weija upon a tip off.
