CRIME:Robbers murder Vodafone staff at Sakumono

Ebo Panford Quainoo, a 30-year-old Marketing Executive of Vodafone Ghana, was yesterday killed by two armed robbers who raided his three-bedroom apartment at Sakumono, near Tema.

The deceased, according to information, was sleeping in his bedroom when the two armed robbers wielding a pump action gun entered the house. Neighbors of the Vodafone Marketing Officer who was shot dead in his home at Sakumono, a suburb of Accra say, the assailants wanted some money the deceased had made from the sale of his BMW vehicle.
They believe one of the deceased’s business partners gave the robbers a tip off.

Items stolen in the house included mobile phones, laptops, as well as an amount of GH¢150.ASP Effia Tengey, Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer (CEO), who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, said the incident occurred around 1:30am yesterday morning at the house located at Jakarta, Sakumono.

The traumatized wife of the deceased (name withheld) told the police that she was sleeping in the hall at the time of the incident.

The woman, who recently tied the knot with Quainoo, stated that she was awakened by a gunshot she heard in their bedroom.

She said she rushed to the bedroom and found her husband lying in a pool of blood and the two robbers who were wielding a pump action gun.

The armed men then ordered her to surrender their money and mobile phones to them.

The aggrieved woman said owing to the difficult situation she quickly grabbed her purse containing an amount of GH¢150, mobile phones and laptops and gave them to the suspects.

The armed men left the scene after receiving the items.

The woman said she quickly shouted for help but nobody mustered the courage to move out of their rooms to help her.

Shortly a police patrol team came to the scene upon hearing the news.

Quainoo was rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment and was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body has since been deposited at the police hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.

Earlier information gathered by the police, according to ASP Tengey, indicated that the armed men trailed a pastor to his house in the area.

They fired some warning shots but the pastor managed to outsmart them.

Sensing danger, the two left the area and moved to Quainoo’s house and killed him.

The police have appealed to individuals to volunteer information to the police.

She added that the police had also intensified patrol in the area and beyond to boost security.
