Freddie Blay Is A “Rebel Leader” In The NPP - Barima Sarpong

Ardent NPP member, Barima Sarpong has attacked the First-Vice National Chairman of his party, Mr. Freddie Blay for masterminding the suspension of his immediate past boss, Paul Afoko.

He described Freddie Blay as a “Rebel Leader” in the NPP whose inclusion from the Convention Peoples Party [CPP] is to ‘kill’ the Elephant.

Barima Sarpong gave a stern warning to his acting national chairman on NEAT FM’s morning show Ghana Montie - “We will not allow his dictatorship kind of leadership in the NPP. Freddie Blay is a ‘rebel leader’ in the NPP. He did same in the CPP but we won’t allow that in the NPP.”

The NPP man was commenting on the indefinite suspension of Paul Afoko who was asked step aside by NPP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) last Friday.

The NEC upheld the overwhelming decision by the Disciplinary Committee which decided that Mr Afoko be suspended.

The Disciplinary Committee took the decision first, after the National Council of Elders in September, wrote, demanding amongst others, that the National Chairman, Paul Afoko be made to step aside until after the 2016 elections.

Friday’s NEC meeting was marred by violence in the morning when members of the party’s private security, ‘Invisible Forces,’ burnt a motorbike and destroyed the windscreen of a taxi cab at the party head office in protest of Afoko’s suspension.

NPP’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed worry in a situation leading to Afoko’s suspension - “I regret that matters have come to this...however, the appropriate organs of the Party have acted.”

However, Barima Sarpong says his party’s flagbearer, comment shows he is in support of NEC to debar Mr. Afoko from the party – “Nana Addo is behind all this. This is really unfortunate. Where is the NPP leading to?”
