Doctors to announce next line of action Wednesday

The Ghana Medical Association is set to hold a Press conference on Wednesday morning in Koforidua to announce to the world what their next line of action will be.

The Health experts who are on a strike action for nearly a fortnight, are currently meeting in the Eastern Regional capital to determine whether to actualize their threat of resigning en masse, and also to map out other strategies in ensuring their demands are met by the government.

The striking public sector doctors embarked on an industrial action after their negotiation with government over their conditions of service hit a deadlock.

Their absence in the consulting rooms has had adverse effect on the lives of some Ghanaians as patients in public hospitals across the country have had to return home unattended to, while innocent lives have also been lost in the process.

They started with attending to patients on admission and emergency cases, however, they have now declined to attend to such cases and have totally deserted the hospitals.

The Ghana Health Service in a bid to salvage the situation intends to replace the striking doctors with retired medical officers when the status quo persists.

Ghanaians are very anxious in knowing what next course the doctors will be charting.
