Blame institutions not Mahama for doctors’ strike – Edward Mahama

A former Presidential candidate for the People’s National Convention (PNC) Dr. Edward Mahama has asked Ghanaians to blame state institutions and not President John Mahama for the strike by medical doctors.

According to him, the President is only a victim of unresponsive state institutions.
Ghanaian doctors are on an indefinite strike pending mass resignation due to government’s inability to agree on their service conditions.

An attempt by government to get the doctors back to work Sunday failed.

Speaking to Moro Awudu on Accra-based Radio XYZ Monday, the medical doctor said he cannot help but sympathize with the President in the ongoing industrial wrangling.

“I sympathize with him. His institutions are not working and he is saddled with having to deal with non-functioning, non-performing institutions.

“Our institutions are not working and we need to get them to work,” he fumed.

He added that although he is yet to see the demands being made by the doctors, he is confident government can reach an amicable resolution with them if the right strategy is adopted.
