Our government is just lying to us; Yvonne Nelson tells BBC

Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson has told the BBC she does not believe any of the government's promises to solve the power crisis.
“They are just lying to us,” a frustrated Yvonne said.
She was speaking to the BBC about the erratic power supply, popularly called dumsor about which she has tweeted endlessly.

“We can’t function as a nation, we need electricity to function,” she underscored.
The actress, who is leading a twitter campaign to put pressure on the government to end the severe load shedding, said the situation is affecting everybody including students preparing for their examinations, with massive lay-off and companies shutting down.
“Sometimes when I am coming home, I’m scared, I’m scared I’m going to get home and then the lights would be off. It’s pretty alarming, the whole dumsor situation is affecting everything; it is affecting productivity in Ghana, and something has to be done,” she said.
Another Ghanaian actor John Dumelo had asked his compatriots to exercise patience with the president because Rome was not built in a day. Yvonne said she partly “agrees with him”.
She was, however, quick to make reference to the emergency power barges which were initially billed to arrive in April as promised but never came.
Meanwhile, the government has revised its notes on the arrival of the emergency power barges. John Jinapor, Deputy Power Minister told Joy News the barges would now arrive somewhere September
“It’s pretty much full of lies. They keep telling lies, we are not seeing any results. As a leader he needs to deliver, we need results, he has to fix this whole energy crisis. They are just lying to us, pretty much. They are just taking Ghanaians for granted and it is not fair…something has to be done soon.”
