A police armoured car had to convey Asante Kotoko players out of the Baba Yara Stadium after colossally disappointing fans following their elimination from the CAF Champions League on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors were beaten 2-1 in front of a partisan crowd by Algerian side MC El Eulma to be eliminated by the same scoreline on aggregate after a 0-0 first leg result.
The exasperated fans wanted to vent their spleen on players after questioning their commitment levels.
“If the players had showed up in front of the fans, they would have been heckled or beaten up,” Luv FM’s commentator Dela Atiase said.
This is the third consecutive time Kotoko have failed to progress to the money zone of the CAF’s flagship event.
