Mahama off to Botswana March 9

President John Dramani Mahama will embark on a three-day state visit to Botswana from March 9.

According to a press release from the Botswana Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the visit follows the official visit to Ghana by President Lt. Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama in August 2011.

During his visit, Mahama will hold bilateral talks with President Khama where the two leaders are expected to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

President Mahama is also expected to be at the official opening of Dikgatlhong dam, and to visit BMC, Diamond Trading Company, a Diamond Cutting and Polishing factory and a youth funded project in Gaborone.

Botswana and Ghana enjoy excellent bilateral relations underpinned by, amongst others, shared values, such as; democracy, respect for human rights and the rule of law.

Amongst the notable activities in their bilateral cooperation is the training of Botswana medical professionals in Ghana's medical schools and the training of Ghanaian veterinarians on Meat Inspection at the Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) Inspection Centre in Lobatse.

A number of Ghanaian professionals also work in Botswana as doctors, engineers, lawyers and accountants.
