Sanitation must be part of our psyche – Otumfuo tells Ghanaians

Asante Monarch Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has charged Ghanaians to make sanitation a pivotal part of their lives, since it will go a long way to ensure cleanliness in society.
Otumfuo gave the advice when the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development delivered about 10,000 waste bins, wheel barrows, long brooms and other logistics to him for the much anticipated 3rd National Sanitation Day, which comes off Saturday January 3, 2015.
Saturday’s clean up exercise is purposed to honour the Asante Monarch for his unflinching support and participation of the National Sanitation Day exercise which started in November 2014.

Sector Minister Julius Debrah and his deputy Edwin Nii-Lantey Vanderpuije alongside Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Mayor of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu, some municipal, district chief executives, and some movie stars from the Kumawood family, presented the items to Otumfuo at the Manhyia Palace Friday.
Some corporate institutions including SIC Life, SG-SSB, ADB, Kasapreko, SSNIT and others have also made donations to the event.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed delight at the presentation and said it must be put to good use. He also lauded the Ministry for envisaging such an idea to support waste management.
Debrah also acknowledged the Asantehene’s support for the national sanitation exercise. He said his office is ready to liaise with the Palace to make the Ashanti Region spot on with sanitation matters.
