President John Dramani Mahama has implored the Ghanaian citizenry to assist the government in efforts to safeguard the nation.
Delivering the Presidential New Year speech on Wednesday, December 31, 2014; President John Mahama admonished the citizenry not to solely dwell on the negatives of the government but rather make constructive criticisms that can help build the nation.
He however pledged not to trample on the citizen's freedom of speech and communication.
The President assured Ghanaians that his government is a listening government and will continue to "rely on this free flow of communication as we move forward on this journey of communication."
He hoped the year 2015 will be devoid of unnecessary cynicisms about the government and "so, beyond listening and beyond hearing; I want to also assure you my fellow Ghanaians that your feedback is also being incorporated into programmes, policies and planning of this government."
The Mahama administration, President Mahama noted; also respects "the right of others to make their voices heard and if we're to work together for the greater good of our nation; we must communicate responsibly, criticizing constructively and focusing on solutions instead of merely dwelling on the negative."
"I have listened. I'm listening and I will continue to listen. Let us choose to fill the days ahead of us with hope and not despair...," President Mahama concluded and further advised Ghanaians to maintain peace to enure the stability of the nation.
