President John Dramani Mahama is heading to Brazil on January 01, 2015 to join other world leaders in Brasilia for the inauguration of Dilma Rousseff as President of the South American country.
Ghana’s president is expected back home on Saturday January 03, 2015.
It will be President Rousseff's second term as leader of Latin America’s largest economy and a growing business and trade partner of Ghana.
The three-part inaugural programme will include the constitutional swearing-in of the re-elected President, a Presidential Address after the swearing-in and a Presidential Dinner for the invited Heads of Delegation.
President Mahama is attending the inauguration personally as a sign of the growing cooperation between Ghana and Brazil over the last few years, a statement from the Flagstaff House said.
Brazil is supporting Ghana in the development of some critical infrastructure projects including roads and airports, and has also been influential in the social protection and development programmes of the government.
While in Brasilia, President Mahama will hold a number of bilateral discussions with other world leaders attending the ceremony, the statement outlined.
