TWO LOVERS have been apprehended by the Tema Regional Police Command in connection with the alleged murder of a 46-year-old structural engineer at Bethlehem in Tema.
The two are Peter Mawuko, 30-year-old Information Technology (IT) specialist who resides at Community One, Site 20 and Confidence Feneku, a 27-year-old seamstress who also resides at Bethlehem, a suburb of Tema.
Suspects, who are languishing in the custody of the Tema Regional Police Command, were said to have abetted in the killing of the Managing Director of Panasty Construction Limited, John Kweku Duah Nsiah, a resident of Community 22, Tema.
Facts of the case as presented by Chief Inspector Prosper George Amegbletor at the Tema magistrate court, presided over by Eric Adjei, were that on December 13, 2014 at about 4:30 pm the deceased met Confidence who happened to be his girlfriend at the Tema motorway roundabout and went to have fun together.
The deceased, at about 7:30 pm, sent the lady to her house at Bethlehem where two gunmen on an unregistered motorbike, approached Nana Duah and instructed him to alight from his Nissan Navira pick-up vehicle.
When he came out of the vehicle, according to Chief Inspector Amegbletor, a misunderstanding ensued between the Nana Duah who happened to be a well-built man and the gunmen as the former managed to push the gunmen to the ground.
He was mentioned to have attempted to run for his life by escaping with his vehicle when one of the gunmen fired at his leg but he managed to escape with the injured leg and drove the vehicle to the Tema General Hospital for medical attention.
His health condition deteriorated the following day and was transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra where he passed away on December 15, 2014 whiles on admission.
Police intelligence led to the arrest of Peter Mawuko whom the lady had been betrothed to.
Prior to the death of the structural engineer, the father of the lady suspect was mentioned to have gone to Peter asking him to come for the drinks he brought to engage Confidence because she was not loyal to him (Peter).
The two suspects have been charged for abetment of crime – to wit murder of the structural engineer - and are to reappear on a later date to allow for further investigations.
