Federation For Disabled To Sue Sam George For Defamation

President of the Ghana Federation for the Disabled, Yaw Ofori-Debrah has advised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communicator, Sam George to apologize to the CPP General Secretary, Ivor Greenstreet or face their wrath.

Mr. Greenstreet on Saturday December 20, 2014 during the NDC national congress accused government of ignoring the hardships of Ghanaians while sharing goodies among themselves.

George however posted a comment on his facebook wall that Greenstreet had unfairly attacked his party and President Mahama and he need "some elevation to see the Better Ghana.”

Many people have interpreted the comment as an attack on the disability of Greenstreet, who is confined to a wheel chair, and have criticized George for what one Facebook commenter described an "inhumane and unacceptable" remarks.

Mr. Debrah on Adom FM’s Midday News called on the NDC communicator to immediately apologize to the CPP General Secretary, because they see his comment as one that defames all disabled persons.

“Government communicators think that because they are in power, they can say whatever they want and go scot free. We the members of the federation see his comments as an insult to us and so we are calling on him to apologize to Ivor Greenstreet before apologizing to the federation.

He threatened that if Sam George refuses to heed to their call, they will be left with no option than to drag him to court.
