Two Emiratis, an Indian and a Bangladeshi were killed in a traffic accident in Sharjah early Tuesday morning.
The crash happened at 2am when a Range Rover, which was being driven at high speed on the way to Sharjah City, hit a lorry that was parked on the side of Airport Road between junctions 3 and 4.
There were no warning cones or signs placed on the road behind the lorry. The Range Rover became wedged under the lorry, killing all four inside. The lorry driver survived the accident.
Colonel Abdulrahman Shawaf, director of Sharjah’s traffic and patrols department, said rescue and ambulance patrols were sent to the scene, which was cordoned off and traffic diverted. The bodies were taken to Al Qassimi and Al Kuwait hospitals.
Col Shawaf called on motorists to observe traffic regulations and to protect themselves and others. He stressed that drivers must observe the parking rules and place warning signs to alert other motorists.
