TEN COMMANDMENTS MONUMENT ATTACK :SUSPECTS CLAIMS Satan TOLD HIM TO DESTORY MONUMENT

undefined
An Oklahoma man told authorities the Devil made him destroy a Ten Commandments monument at the Oklahoma City capitol building.

The unidentified man is currently undergoing a mental evaluation and the county's District Attorney's Office will determine if charges should be filed.

The suspect admitted to U.S. Secret Service agents that he was a Satanist and decided to urinate on the controversial six-foot monument before getting into his car and running into it. He then entered the building, made derogatory statements about President Barack Obama and said Satan told him to damage the monument.

The family of Rep. Mike Ritze raised the $10,000 in private funds to build the state and Oklahoma's Gov. Mary Fallin told TV Station KFOR she would immediately assist to raise funds to rebuild the monument. This monument was built to memorialize the historical significance of the Ten Commandments in guiding our own laws and lives," she told the station. "It is absolutely appalling that someone would vandalize anything at the Oklahoma State Capitol — the People's Building — much less a monument of such significance."

The Satanic Temple has pledged to build its own monument adjacent to the Ten Commandments monument and the organization said it would continue with its efforts as long as the state plans to rebuild the monument.

The structure has also drawn the ire of the American Civil Liberties Union of Oklahoma, which sued to have it removed. A judge ruled the monument does not violate the state's constitution and the organization will appeal to the state Supreme Court. The ACLU condemned the act against the monument.

"To see the Ten Commandments desecrated by vandals is highly offensive to them as people of faith," said Ryan Kiesel, the ACLU of Oklahoma's executive director
