GHANA:Starbow planes grounded

The management of Starbow Airline has grounded some planes in its fleet for servicing after Tuesday's emergency landing at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

A Starbow flight to Takoradi made an emergency landing after developing a mechanical fault mid-air.

Two people were reported injured after an awkward landing at the Airport, 20 minutes after taking off.

The CEO of Starbow, James Antwi, said the fault was due to "hydraulic failures" and the pilot had to make a “flapless landing”.

The Deputy Minister of Transport, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, disclosed to Citi FM Wednesday that some aircraft of the company have been grounded until further notice.

This is the second time a Starbow aircraft has made an emergency landing, after an incident in August 2014 which saw a Kumasi-bound aircraft return to the KIA shortly after taking off due to a fault detected mid-air.
