GHANA:Duncan-Williams: A lot of "prophet-liars" around these days

There are liars parading themselves as prophets in the Church these days, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has bemoaned.

The Christian Action Faith Ministries’ (CAFM) founder told his congregation in Accra, Sunday October 26 that many people are faking prophecies these days to attract followers.

According to him, genuine prophets whose prophetic anointing have been taken away from them by God, are also still parading themselves in their past glory just so that they attract crowds.

“…There are prophets who used to run because God gave them a message at that time and now God says: ‘The season of running with that specific prophetic word I used to give you has changed, stand aside, let others come. I’m not giving you the word you used to have to run anymore’. So they say: ‘Why? I’m a prophet, I have to hear’, so they have to ‘prophet-lie’: they have to be a prophet even when God hasn’t spoken. They have to be a prophet”, the Charismatic preacher said.

He observed: “Today everybody wants to be a prophet because when you are a teacher, you are not respected. People don’t like teachers, they don’t like apostles and evangelists and pastors anymore; everybody wants a prophet…”

“There are prophets who used to run with the word relevant to their tongues, and God has changed their season for them to either become a pastor or a teacher and they still want to prophesy when the oil is not there, and there are some too they are never called to be a prophet and they are forcing to be a prophet because right now it looks like when you are a prophet, then you are the man of the hour: everybody goes for those who are prophets. ‘He sees, he can hear’, and after the service, you chase them, you follow them to the car park. I’m going to seal all the walls around, those of you who after service you are even breaking my gate because you have to see the prophet. You are looking at me? You can look at me anyway you want to hear me.

“Fact of the matter is that there are people who are not called to be prophet and are forcing to be prophets because it looks like when you are a prophet, then you become the man or woman of the time. If you know the amount of prophecies I hear every day, it will shock you and I have capacity to accommodate it, I have a lot of them because some of them are trying, some of them are coming up, some of them too are prophet-liars, so I have to sieve and judge everything…they come every day with prophecies”, Duncan-Williams said.

He, nonetheless, acknowledged the fact that there are still true and genuine prophets anointed by God, who prophesy exactly what God reveals to them.
