An Afghan mullah has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping a girl, officials say.
The cleric had taught the 11-year-old girl at a local mosque in the northern city of Kunduz, police said.
"The rape took place in May in the mosque," said Waisuddin Talash, a police official in the province of the same name.
Talash said that the case was referred to a Kabul court, which issued its sentence on Saturday.
Rights activists had demanded a tougher sentence.
